Anthony Burgin Charged Over Naseem Hamed Crash

Anthony Burgin, the man who was injured In a car crash caused by Naseem Hamed has been charged following an alleged incident involving the ex boxer’s wife. Anthony Burgin’s lawyer has claimed that her client was “both surprised and upset by this allegation”. Jane Wright of Irwin Mitchell, the firm representing Mr Burgin, has said,
“Following an alleged incident between our client Mr Anthony Burgin and Mrs Eleasha Hamed, wife of former boxer Naseem Hamed, on 19 of April 2007, our client has been charged with dangerous driving. At this time, our client does not know upon what basis this charge has been brought.
“Mr Burgin wishes to make no further comment other than to thank his family who have supported him during his rehabilitation following the serious injuries he received as a result of a road accident involving Mr Hamed.”
It has been reported that Hamed was driving his £320,000 Mercedes McLaren at about 90 mph on the wrong side of the road when he crashed head-on with Mr Burgin’s Volkswagen in May 2005.
The 32-year-old walked free from Moorland open prison in Doncaster South Yorkshire in September after serving just 16 weeks.
Mr Burgin suffered fractures to every major bone in his body during the crash with Mr Hamed.
