The tornado which hit Nuneaton in The West Midlands at 6.20am this morning wasn’t the only one to hit Britain today. We have told you of the second mini tornado which hit homes in Farnborough, Hants but there have been reports of two more tornados. One struck Luton and another hit slammed through the streets in Northampton. This brings the total tornado count to four.
John Maydwell, a shopkeeper in Nuneaton told Sky News of his tornado experience, “It sounded like a bomb going off. It hit just after 6am. I looked outside and 12 to 15 houses had their roofs and tiles badly damaged.”
Sky weather forecaster Jo Wheeler has said that conditions this morning were ripe for the formation of tornadoes, “Watching the area of rain crossing the country the conditions for tornados were perfect. They most often occur in the Midlands and the South East and Nuneaton is an area we would expect to see tornado activity.”
