HTC’s big order from Sony Ericsson: Windows Mobile handsets
By: Daniel Chubb | September 21, 2007
Today we have heard that HTC (the Taiwan-based OEM manufacturer) has got an order from Sony Ericsson for Windows Mobile-based smartphones.
Chinese-language Commercial Times seems to be the originator of this news and it also suggests Sony Ericsson’s order is an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) order.
This is because these types of orders are meant to not acknowledge the original manufacturer as creating the product.
Sony Ericsson’s order for Windows Mobile-based smartphones is said to be for well over one million units, if this rumor becomes official then many of you will know that this is a big change in direction for Sony Ericsson as they have never before offered a Windows-based mobile.
The second half of 2008 is when it’s rumored that HTC/Sony Ericsson smartphones are due.
