George Miller To Direct Justice League Of America Movie: It’s Confirmed!

Hurrah! We’ve been saying it for the past month when the news first leaked online but now it’s official! George Miller will direct a big screen adaptation of The Justice League of America. It’s taken a long time for Warner Bros. to make the announcement. The movie will more than likely feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Aquaman. What a line up!
It’s unlikely that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale will play Superman and Batman due to their other work commitments. The studio is said to be in the preliminary stages of the casting process. Well, they’d better hurry up or they’ll be hit with the great strike of Hollywood next year.
In a report by Variety, it was also confirmed that the studio had decided to make a “special effects driven live-action movie”.
The movie will be going into production before the strike and is set to target theatres for a 2009 release. It seems Variety has just taken everything that the movie news website community has said and was the first to get official confirmation. Can that be classed as good reporting? We don’t think so - Peter Bart should be ashamed.
The JLA was first introduced in February 1960, with the original line-up featuring: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter. Since then, the team has grown to include Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, Plastic Man, Zatanna and others.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I . CAN . NOT . WAIT . FOR . THIS . MOVIE!!
