October 16th

The rumours are about to be ceased as the supposed Zune 2 gets a release date. There have been rumours galore and supposed product pictures but I can now tell you that Zune 2 will be launched in the states in October.

There will be two main versions of the player. One, a flash-based device in 4GB and 8GB and the other, a larger HDD model which will offer 80GB of capacity. Not only that, but you will get colour choices too. These choices will be Pink, Red and Black with an army Jeep green making an appearance for the flash model.

In the design, the navigation button has been replaced with a new raised “squircle” shaped button. The Zune 2 is in the product validation stage and it seems Microsoft want to launch them in the wake of Halo 3 launch.

It isn’t yet known whether the new players will be launched outside the US.

I don’t know if in the wake of the Halo launch will be beneficial to them. Unless maybe master chief gets one in the game.
