Lucasarts has recently announced that their upcoming title, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, will be released on both of Nintendo’s consoles early next year.
The title is set between Revenge of the Sith and the original, A New Hope, and follows an alternate story line rather than the one covered in the films. The main character is Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, in a quest to rid the world of the Jedi.
As is to be expected of a Wii game, the remote will be the centre of the gameplay: players will waggle the Wiimote around like a lightsaber, and use the nunchuk to activate the force. This could go one of two ways: it may merely be a gimmick, or it may create a much more involving and realistic Star Wars universe, but swinging the remote around and making the typical noises should be enough to satisfy any fan. The Wii version will also have an exclusive head-to-head duel mode, where players can compete with their friends to determine who is the true Jedi Master (or Sith Lord.)
The Nintendo DS version of the game is also in development, but touch-screen control confirmation and other details are scarce.
How much do you want to wave the remote around like Luke Skywalker?
