Garmin Nuvi 350

The Garmin Nuvi; one of the few rivals to TomTom’s dominance in the GPS scene. Here’s a review of one of the contenders; the Nuvi 350, which is selling like hotcakes at the moment.

The Nuvi 350 in general, is a nice little GPS that will serve anyone well. The whole GPS was thought out well, along with other key aspects such as the ergonomics and clear, unambiguous directions. The user-interface is clean, and outbeats other GPS units on the market, including many TomTom’s which can quite a hassle to use.

Similarly, the 350 includes detailed maps of Europe, so anyone planning to go on holiday there, or is planning to live there can easily buy this, safe in the mind that their Nuvi will work. Some other features added were a music player, picture viewer, calculator and other utilities; which aren’t really a necessary, but it’s a nice touch when we haven’t seen the likes of these before. Potential, they could distract you from your driving, but I wouldn’t worry about that. Finally, if you ever felt the need to, you can use the Nuvi 350 as a USB portable storage device; of 700mb.

However, the Nuvi 350 is quite expensive, and only those with a bit of money will probably be willing to purchase this. You could go and buy a cheaper one; but hey! You’ll be getting less for your money. The live traffic information is an optional-addon and doesn’t come straight out of the box, and although not a major flaw, no printed manual is included and is only downloadable from the internet. But again, who reads manuals anyway? And if you do, I’m presuming you have access to the internet; as you’re reading this review now…so go find it!

To conlude, the 350 is a brilliant little GPS system, that was built well, has all the right features; but really, it is quite expensive for what it is.

Would you say the Garmin Nuvi’s are outrivalling TomTom’s? Let us know.

I don’t think the Nuvi matches up. I use a TomTom ONE, and is has many of the same features the nuvi 350 offers, at a fraction of the price. I’ll take the tomtom everyday of the week.
