Could Cate Blanchett Be An Indiana Jones Villain?

With most people still trying to get their head around Indiana Jones’ new title, maybe people should mention the cast members - especially a certain Cate Blanchett! During I recent interview with MTV Cate commented on the title - Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and also let slip on an important plot detail.

“I went, ‘Oh, that’s what it’s called, is it?’” It seems Cate was kept in the dark like the rest of the world!

Not divulging into too much plot detail and letting nothing slip about the role of the Crystal Skulls and what their supposed powers are, Cate let us in on a little secret about her own role in the film.

It was assumed that when Cate Blanchett was cast, she would be playing Indiana’s love interest. Reports flew around the internet that Cate wouldn’t be playing a love interest, but a nefarious foe with possible ties to the Russians.

When Cate was 12, she remembers watching Indiana Jones ““kiss Karen Allen when they fall asleep. I can remember that was a big part for me. I thought, ‘Ooh, gosh. When I grow up I’d like to marry a man like him, even if he does fall asleep after I kiss him.’”

So will Cate’s wish be granted? We she get to kiss the legend that is Indiana Jones?

“[Not] unless they’ve changed the script pages, I don’t think so.”

So, if she’s not kissing Indy then she’s not his love interest.
