Hollywood funny man Will Ferrell is to auction off a cameo role in his new film to raise money for a friend’s charity. The online bidding will begin on today and close on September 26th. The winner will then be able to join Will Ferrell on the set of Step Brothers and appear in a scene.

The proceeds from the sale will go to the Cancer for College foundation, which was set up by Ferrell’s university friend and cancer survivor Craig Pollard.

Speaking of the auction, Will Ferrell said, “What a perfect Christmas present for your son or daughter. It is the sure-fire way to win the parent of the year award. Support this amazing cause by buying them me.”

The winner, announced on the 27th September will meet the actor the following day at a golf tournament dinner in aid of the charity. The charity was set up by Mr. Pollard, who overcame Hodgkin’s disease twice as a teenager, to provide current and former cancer patients with a college scholarship.
