The all new Apple iPod Nanos have been out for well over a week now and reviews from all sorts of sites have flooded in, all of which have unanimously praised Steve Jobs for making the best Nano yet. It has to be said, us at Product Reviews couldn’t really fault the Nano too significantly either, although it did have it’s flaws.
The ultra thin design makes the new Nanos feel better than ever and the new shape really does fit in the palm of the hand- perfectly. The screen is truly beautiful, being the most densely-pixel-packed iPod product yet, fact. For that very reason, videos are easy on the eyes and dare I say a pleasure to watch.
Apple have really hit the spot when it comes to satisfaction of the screen, especially with the new cover flow feature. This allows you to flick through your albums and although may feel better on the iPhone or iTouch, the Nano sure had a good go at it.
Another cool ’show-off’ feature is the floating art that appears in the split screen mode when selecting your options. Hover over music, and the last album’s art will float on the right half of the screen. The same applies to the previously viewed photos and videos too- not bad.
It has to be said, audio quality really isn’t amazing. Average at best, the pathetic Apple earphones really don’t do the product any justice.
Probably the iPod Nano’s biggest downside has to be the new colours. Personally, when it came down to personal electronics I preferred the white look, it was pure, sexy and hid the scratches too. The bleak and softer new colors really do disappoint me, as the previous colors looked much better. That’s one step forward, two steps back Steve. Sort it out.
Do you agree? Which color do you think looks best? Let us know.
