Yesterday, thousands marched from the White House to the Capitol in protest and rage against the Iraqi War demanding an end to it. 160 were arrested as they jumped the barrier at the foot of the capitol steps.
Before marching to the Capitol lawn, protestors walked on Pennsylvania Avenue holding banners and flags and chanting “What do we want? Troops Out. When do we want it? Now.”
Earlier on in the day protestors gathered together near the White House, and the whole event was organised by the ANSWER Coalition. These organisers estimate that more than 100,000 people attended the march.
Protestors then gathered on the Capitol lawn, laying down on the grass with signs, reinacting the deaths of American troops in Iraq. After no response, many began to climb the blockades and were arrested; without any fight or resistance.
Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson, dressed in camouflage speaking to crowds yesterday said he wanted to say three things;
“Congress, quit playing games with our troops. Terrorists, we will find you and kill you,” he said. “And to our troops, we’re here for you, and we support you.”
Did you take part in the march yesterday? How long do you think it will be before George Bush decides to pull troops out of Iraq?
