Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Review: Pricey But Worth It

The Nvidia 8800 GTX proves to be a worthy successor to it’s 7-series, however, although the first official DX10 ten card; it doesn’t quite fit into the mainstream at this time.
The GPU itself boasts performance and power, rating at a blistering 13717 points in 3dmark. The processor runs at 575 Mhz and naturally has an ideal 768MB of RAM. Ergo, games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R run at a lush 38fps even on a monster resolution of 2048×1536 with x16 Anti-Aliasing. Clearly, this is not a card to mess around with.
The 8800GTX promises potential for upcoming blockbusters later on in this year such as Crysis and will still remain a solid, rigid card for the next year or so.
However, you’ll certainly not get the best by buying this alone. Buying two of these babies and rigging them up in SLi will potentially give you a 66% increase in 3dmark which is purely unrivaled. Likewise, the card alone definitely needs a nice PSU of around 500W, and certainly with two of them, 1kW won’t come at a nice price. Especially when, one of the cards themselves costs around $800
Overall, the 8800GTX proves to be an awesome video card. Can you think of a better one?
