$100 XO Laptop For International Schoolchildren Costs $188

Our previous post on the $100 XO laptop for disadvantaged children states the fact that it is indeed, $100. However, more analysts and manufacturers are drifting away from the dream and stating that the XO laptop will actually cost almost double that.
Even at $200 though, the laptop offers a lot at a very reasonable price, such as wireless, editing facilities and a hand-powered battery.
“Where does it end? It started out at $130, then it was $148, then it was $176, now it’s $188 – what’s next? $200?” said Wayan Vota, the former director of the Geekcorps international tech-development organization.
“You have these governments who were looking at this original, fanciful $100-per-child figure, now we’re going up towards or maybe past $200.”
Apparently, the free laptops are destined for pornography, of which more can be read about, here.
