F1 Fans Opinion Ferrari John Todt should have settled with McLaren out of court
I still cannot get my head around the big fine and the fact that McLaren have been thrown out of the F1 constructors championship, the thing is John Todt from Ferrari could have settled this case out of court. However Ferrari being Ferrari they take losing badly and always want to win at any cost, the problem is they believe that they make up 50% of Formula 1 they seem to forget that there are another ten teams in the sport.

This whole case stinks, the thing is we all know that FIA president Max Mosley does not like McLaren team boss Ron Dennis which makes it look like a witch hunt. According to a report in the Belfast Telegraph, while in Monza Ron Dennis was told that if he retired from the sport then all of McLaren’s problems would go away.

Ok let us put this another way, McLaren was found to be guilty by the World Motorsport Council for having Ferrari technical data and as such they were fined $100m and also will not be allowed to take part in the constructors championship. But this is where it gets strange, their cars would have had an unfair advantage and as such would have been illegal, so why are the drivers allowed to keep their points and still compete for the drivers F1 title.

What this says to me it that Ferrari wants to win the constructors championship at any cost, they do not care about the drivers’ championship.

I would like to stress that I am not implying anything untoward, I am just a fan who thinks that things just do not seem right and I feel that it is a sad day for this once great sport.

This is also the opinion of people up and down the F1 paddock.

If the evidence is true that mclaren has used ferrari data then I think FERRARI should be using the same data and they would be leading the world championship. Unless the data is worthless and ferrari threw out a hook on a line to aid there failing team. If this is the way to win ferrari is the one that should be banned for thier tacticks and methods are always in disrepute

    I do not agree.
McLaren had the documents, for a long time.
And to say that they did nothing wrong. Ron getting out saying he is all about the truth.. What ?? He should had gone to Ferrari with the documents, when he heard about them.
    Fired there head designer. Done
Nothing would had happened, but he did not.
I think it’s good to clean up the rotten apples

Has no-one yet realised that $100M is, by coincidence, the same as the “sweetener” paid to Ferrari by the FIA/FOM to stay in the FIA “championship” and thereby stop the break-a-way GPMA championship !! I will wait until I read the “facts” published by the FIA before I decide to watch another race.

The evidence demonstrates that McLaren were guilty of theft, and of sharing the information from that theft within the team. Given the extent of the information they acquired, the desire of Ferrari and the FIA to persue the matter seems fully justified. The claims that McLaren are being ‘picked on’ appear to be crude attempts to deflect attention away from the actual crime. McLaren are lucky to not be banned for years for bringing the sport into disrepute. Stop blaming the whistleblowers, and look at who is really guilty here.
