Uwe Boll is no stranger to big screen adaptations of video games. He snapped up the rights for a few video game projects years back and we’ve yet to see something great materialise. As a result, he has become disliked by the video game community. Video game companies have yet to learn their lesson, however, with Boll acquiring the rights to an unreleased action role-playing game, Legend: Hand of God.
Speaking from the set movie Far Cry, where he is working with Til Schweiger, Ralf Möller and Udo Kier, Boll said,
“I think Legend will be very successful because of its unique blend of high fantasy and dark atmosphere. The world of Legend contains major crossover potential and was already adapted as novel and audio book”
Now, I’m not so sure. Boll keeps finding someone to fund these movies, which always end up nose diving at the box office. Then, when they are released on DVD, they still don’t do very well. I’ll keep an open mind though and see where Uwe can take this one.
According to Boll, shooting will start with a $40 million budget in 2009. For those sticking with the game, it’ll be released early next year.
