No Genuine Friends on MySpace, Facebook and Bebo

Well that is what the Guardian is reporting about these popular communities, they have got their information from a survey by Dr Will Reader at Sheffield Hallam University.
Social networking will get you hundreds of “acquaintances”, but the study has found that these do not become real world close friends.
Do you agree with this? I can understand this as a majority, but I am sure there are many stories of close friends being made via MySpace, Facebook and Bebo…tell us your story.
Dr Will Reader went on to say “Although the numbers of friends people have on these sites can be massive, the actual number of close friends is approximately the same in the face to face real world”.
The survey was only including 200 people, which I find hard to believe this can give a real conclusion as there are millions of people on these sites and different areas of the world may have different habits.
