Cillian Murphy is definitely making a name for himself in Hollywood. After roles in Danny Boyle’s Sunshine and Ken Loach’s The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Cillian is now set to team up with the legend that is Al Pacino in a movie about Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali. The film, titled “Dali & I: The Surreal Story” will span the 1960’s to the 1980’s and follows the time in Dali’s life when many of his great works were behind him and he was becoming more and more flamboyant.
Al Pacino will play Dali, who develops a mentor-protégé relationship with a young art dealer, Stan Lauryssens (played by Murphy).
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2008 on location in Spain and New York. Andrew Noccol is directing and the film will be adapted from Lauryssens’ memoir ‘Dali & I’. There is still no word on who has been cast as Gala, Dali’s wife.
