Ben Affleck Delays Film Due To Madeline McCann Case

Ben Affleck has delayed the release of his new film, Gone Baby Gone due to it’s resemblance to the Madeleine McCann case. Affleck’s directing debut tells the story of a four-year-old girl who is abducted from her bed after her mother leaves her alone in the house.

The similarities don’t end there. The child actress playing the role is Madeline O’Brien. No prizes for guessing the connection there! O’Brien is also said to look like the missing girl.
Madeleine McCann vanished from the Algarve holiday apartment her family were saying in on May 3, while her parents had a meal at a nearby tapas bar.

Ben’s film was set to be released in the UK in November but, after being told about Madeleine’s disappearance, he is considering delaying the film.

Affleck, talking to reporters, has said, “We are acutely aware of the situation. We have a greater concern for that than the release of our film, which is just a commercial matter, whereas this is a matter of life and death.

“I’m not up to date on the details, and it is not something that has taken off in the US in the way it has in the UK. It is only when someone said there was this case that was very similar to my film that we looked it up.

“We don’t want to release the movie if it is going to touch a nerve or inflame anybody’s sensitivities.”
