Sony to launch four Blu-ray recorders bringing the fight to HD DVD

Sony has announced that they are to release four new models of Blu-ray recorders in November, Sony hope that they will win the battle against HD DVD. Sony is Blu-ray backers as well as Panasonic, and they compete with the other format HD DVD which is promoted by Toshiba.

These four new models will be capable of recording up to 16 hours of programes on one dual-layer Blu-ray disc with a capacity of 50GB. This is the first time that Sony Blu-ray recorders have been able to use dual-layer discs.

Out of the four new recorders there is a high-end model that comes with a 500GB hard drive and will cost around $1,700.
