Following the news that yet another foot and mouth case has come to light in Egham, Surrey, which is just 10 miles from the Pirbright outbreak in August. A temporary control zone of 10km has now come into effect and part of the Queen’s Windsor estate falls within this zone.
These measures that have been taken have forced the closure of Deer Park, also the Guards Polo Club and a few footpaths around the Windsor Estate. It has been reported that all the cattle on the Surrey farm has shown symptoms of foot and mouth.
Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister of the UK has said that he and the Government will do all what is needed to try and get to the root of the problem. This is bad news for the Government as they have only just got last month’s Pirbright foot and mouth outbreak under control.
