Oprah Winfrey Show for woman who killed her husband: yes or no?

33 year old Mary Winkler was convicted of voluntary manslaughter after she shot her minister husband Matthew last year in the parsonage of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee.

She said that an abusive marriage drove her to shoot and kill him with a shotgun, now Mary Winkler wants to be on the Oprah Winfrey Show and to get custody of her three daughters (girls aged 2, 8 and 10).

Her former in-laws Dan and Diane Winkler want to adopt the girls and terminate her parental rights.

She has served just 5 months in jail and 2 more months in a mental health centre after killing her husband.

After a county judge has denied Mary Winkler permission to travel to Chicago to talk on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

    Comment on Mary Winkler: As an abused ex-wife, I too experienced the sexual deprivation, the kicking out of bed, the kicking of pregnant stomache almost losing child (thanking my doctor for seeing the REAL story behind the NO’s), and my crying child (now 32) got his first BEATING at 3 months old. Did I wish him DEAD, you betcha. Did I do it, no but the 10 year sentence would have been a vacation. There was no rhymne or reasons behind the beatings, if supervisor pissed him off, if Toronto Maple Leafs lost their game, if supper wasn’t STEAMING…his favorite weapon was a baseball bat, after he raped me time and time again. Did I hide this from everyone, yes, I was too embarrassed to let everyone know that the pretty, outgoing, vivacious girl got herself into a hell of a mess. What was I like 4 1/2 years later when I left him, I was a raped, mutilated, beaten dog. I had no self esteem, and no self worth. Did I repeat this pattern of attracting the WRONG guy, YES. Mary did what most of us beaten women would, she could put up with anything the guy would do to her, BUT, attack my kid and I’ll kill you. The day I left, I had just been beaten, raped, and as I was heading out the door with my hair in his hands he threatened if I called the cops the kids would be dead before they got there. I called, I told them what he had said, and if took them 45 min. to dispatch someone from a station less than 3 min away. Should she have her kids, YES, all she thought about afterwards was spending time with them, and getting them away from all this. She is my HERO. I killed my husband too, about 10,000 times in my head, and still after many years he made life HELL for my son. I wish I would have had half the BALLS Mary had, whether it happened instantly or whether it was planned, NO MAN has the right to beat, physically or emotionally and woman. Or even the other way around, because it am intelligent enough to know that also happens. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest…
