The Simpsons Movie was one of the most hotly anticipated movie of 2007. The Simpson family are loved by all so when a movie was made, everyone rushed to see it, meaning the film took sixth place on the biggest movies of 2007 list. The film is estimated to end it’s run with $500 million worldwide. Not too shabby considering it cost $75 million to make!
So can we expect a sequel? Well, rumours were rife before the movie opened, and more fuel will be added to the fire in the September 23rd 19th season premiere with Bart Simpson writing “I will not wait 20 years to make another movie” on a blackboard. Calm your excitement though as Al Jean has said there are currently no plans for a sequel.
“We would only do a sequel if we believed it was a movie that had to be made, just like we did with the first one. We wouldn’t want to do it just because the first one was successful, or because we wanted to make money off of a movie. We’d only do it if we had a script that we thought was great [and] there’s no script at this point.”
I personally believe it won’t be long until we see another Simpsons Movie. Do you think a sequel should be made?
