Kathy Griffin’s Jesus remark cut from Emmy show
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have said that Comic Kathy Griffin’s “offensive” remarks about Jesus at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be removed from the pre taped telecast of the show,

Apparently Kathy made the provocative comment on Saturday night as she took the stage to collect her Emmy.

Kathy said that “A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus, suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now.”

When Kathy was asked about her speech backstage a short time later, an unrepentant
Kathy said “I hope I offended some people. I didn’t want to win the Emmy for nothing.”

The speech drew fire from a leading Roman Catholic group, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, which condemned Griffin’s remarks as “obscene and blasphemous.”

Spokeswomen for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences said on Tuesday that “Kathy Griffin’s offensive remarks will not be part of the E! Telecast,” An “abbreviated version” of her acceptance speech will air, instead, she said.

What do you make of all this do you think that she was in the wrong for saying what she did?

WHO CARES SHE IS GROWN SHE HAS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT SHE SAYS AND DOES ON JUDGEMENT DAY WHICH IS NOT TODAY OR TOMORROW OR WITH ELSE ITS WITH THE GOOD LORD ABOVE SO LET HER SAY AS SHE PLEASE AND AS LONG AS YOU BELIEVE AS YOU DO YOU WORRY ABOUT YOU AND YOUR DAY

Come on people, Kathy Griffin is a shock-value comedienne ! There is nothing virtuous about her shtick. Do you think God wants credit for her award?

I am more offended by celebrities like Paris Hilton and Michael Vick who announce to the world that they have “found” god, as a way to erase their sins and gain public acceptance. I rank their sudden re-birth as believable as the now popular “48 hour Rehab”!

I don’t think she should have said it and it is time that people be held accountable for what they say. Freedom does not mean that you hurt other people freedom means the freedom to do right. What really upsets me is if she had said something like that about Mohammad or the Islam religion the press would have been all over it but it seems to be ok to say something about Christianity and the creator of the universe.

  4. David MacKenzie says:

When I look over her remarks, I simply have to say, “fine, you’ve ‘received your reward.’ (as Jesus himself might say).” Only someone with a very narrow definition of success would get all that wound up about an Emmy, of all things.
Such awards are really quite artificial when you think about it– as much a fantasy as the business they represent.

The simple truth is that an Emmy isn’t going to save you, but Jesus will, if you allow Him…

  5. Lanny Belcher says:

    Congratulations on your Emmy.

    But know this…
Jesus still loves you. He is pleading to God the Father on your behalf. Ask His forgiveness and invite Him into your heart today.
