Is the Sony PS3 still too expensive: how much would you pay for the Playstation 3?

Although we have seen a price cut for the Sony PS3 many consumers still believe that the Playstation 3 is still too expensive. The thing is when it comes to larger items like TV’s then we do not mind paying other $400, but when it comes to a small item like the PS3 people believe that it is too much to pay for such a small item.
People seem to forget how much technology Sony have crammed into the Playstation 3, but they just look at the size of the thing at let their eyes dictate to them how much they are willing to pay.
I believe that this coming holiday season will be the turning point for the PS3; I expect that sales should be healthy for the games console and all this talk will be a thing of the past.

oh common, last gen are you seriously telling me you didnt want a ps2 when technically it has the worst graphics by far out of the 3.
and why did you want it? because it was accessible with a good price tag and large game library.
and why did it have a big game library? because it was easy/cheap to develop for and added to the intall base gave developers lots of money.
this in my opinion is what the Wii is achieving.
most people think that they want the best graphics and stuff rammed under the hood but its a trade off in the long run for the best games and a console that succeeds. its happened time and time again (neo geo, n64, cube, game gear, dreamcast…… basically all consoles that are considered failures)
only difference is sony is losing money on the ps3 big time. graphics are killing the industry and the consoles, microsoft only keeps the xbox going with its endless pockets, in terms of the money its made its a massive, massive failure.
Look — both consoles are great machines. Both have strengths and weaknesses. But honestly, why do you buy a console? I bought both of mine to play games… not play movies. Now I can do that (play movies), but that is secondary to anything else on the console — playing music, movies, pictures… whatever.
The price for the PS/3 is not really the issue… if it had a bunch of exclusive top-notch games, it would be selling. The problem is that is doesn’t. And most of the games that are available don’t play as well as on the 360. And so far, it is not getting any better. Everytime some new game comes out for both, the PS/3 version is the sucky version.
And don’t call me a basher… I shelled out the $600 — I have a right to be disappointed and even a little upset.
Now, having said all this, I do think it will get better over time as developers get experienced with the hardware… but my advice is this, if you can only afford one, get the 360. There is just so much more to do with it at this point.
PS3 to expensive? Who ever thinks the ps3 is either on welfare or just a dumb kid with no job. Fact is the ps3 has not been out as long as the 360, so how can you even start talking shit about the ps3. Fact is the ps3 is worth the money, look at the stuff they cram in it. The 360? theres not much they cram in it. If you want the extra stuff the 360 has than you have to pay for it and when you do pay for those other accessories you will see that it is more expensive than ps3.
I hate xbox 360 fanboys all they do is talk shit about the ps3 when the xbox 360 they support is not even doing as well as it should even though its been out for a year earlier.
i think the 360 is JUNK!!! the PS3 is way better.. my brother has both of them and i have the ps3. i dont even see how people would think 360 video out put is better when its pushing out DVD.. ( games ) and if you think the PS3 is to expensive, will you pay more for the 360 when you get all the extra sh*t. and the only reason 360 has more games is cuz its been out longer. i bet if the ps3 was out 1st the 360 would NEVER catch up.
I would pay 250 for one without an HD. I cannot justify however the price increases for a larger (relatively small) HD increase. Especially not when i can now get a terrabyte(1000 GB) drive for $200. Re-release the 20gb PS3 with backwards compatability at a lower price and you will have my money sony.
Sony really needs to stop thinking none of us know that HD space is the cheapest thing in technology today.
Then again i’m a casual gamer who also has no use for a blue ray player (i wont pay $30 for the shitty movies that get put out these days.) and i also hate most of the shiny but no content or game play value games that have been released for these next gen consoles. I find it funny that in this next gen era games have almost gone backwards as it used to be that game play was #1 because of limited graphics. Now graphics are #1 and game play always seems to be either totally forgotten or an after thought.
I have wanted a PS3 for a long time now but I simply cannot justify 350+ for it. It is really cool and everything, but consumers who need all the features it offers are few and far between. I won’t get into the old tried and true stuff of the 360 diehards (free online is crap controllers are cheap looking blah blah) but the fact is it is just too pricey for me. I would pay about 200-250 for it, but that is because I could give 2 craps about blu-ray (I already have a standalone player) I don’t need the wireless (My house was built about 6 years ago and is wired for internet) and all I really want to do is play some games!! Even that is messed up with stupid-long load times and expensive titles. I’m not saying the 360 or wii is perfect, far from it. Every console has it’s drawbacks and the biggest one for the PS3 is the price.
