Toys ‘R’ Us to step up product testing after Chinese made toys were recalled
September 11, 2007 | Filed under Toy Recalls, Toys

Toys “R” Us the toy retailer is now stepping up their testing and safety checks after a range of Chinese made toys were recalled during the summer months, which contained harmful amounts of lead paint. Earlier in the year Toys ‘R’ Us started to take products of their shelves and spot check them, but now they are testing all of their products that are in store.
Toys “R” Us has hired a number of engineers to visit their stores so that they can take some branded toys to a lab and run test on them. Not only is Toys ‘R’ Us doing these test but so is the Walt Disney Co, as a lead paint had been found in a number of their products, including baby bibs and children’s jewelry.
Mattel has already recalled 800,000 of their products, as their toys contained a huge amount of lead levels from the paint that was used.
Let us hope that this toy companies learn a lesson about cutting corners when it comes to finding the cheapest source for manufacturing their toy goods.
