Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700
Come the 4th of January 2008 Intel will stop taking orders for its quad Core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor and if customers want to be able to cancel at a later date they will have to get an order in before the 2nd of November 2007.

The 2.66GHz gaming processor costs around $999 and the decision to end the life of the Extreme QX6700 is not a surprise to many after the recent launch of the 3GHz QX6850.

This newer processor features a higher 1333MHz frontside bus compared to the 1066MHz FSB on the QX6700.

Three Core 2 Extreme desktop CPUs is way to many and Intel knew this after the arrival of the QX6850 and as such lets all say bye to the bottom-of-the-range gaming CPU.
