Harry Potter movie franchise beats James Bond and Star Wars to biggest in box office history
Wizard movies Harry Potter has now become the biggest movies in box office history, as all five movies have now grossed $4.47bn. All 22 James Bond movies have earned $4.44bn, while all three Star Wars films earned $4.23bn, but what we have to realize is that there are still another two Harry Potter movies to go.

The next Harry Potter movie will be due out in 2008 while the final movie will be released in 2010. The most recent movie that The Order of the Phoenix which was based on the book by writer JK Rowling has now taken over $920m in box office takings around the world.

Star Wars had always been in the number one spot but with the release of the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale it had been pushed down one spot. Then came the fifth installment of Harry Potter the Order of the Phoenix, which then pushed both these movie franchises down to make the Harry Potter movies the biggest in box office history.
