Petraeus Under Fire From Iraq War Sceptics

Gen. David Petraeus is currently the top US military commander in Iraq, and he has recently given a speech to Congress on how the situation in Iraq was developing after George Bush sent a “surge” of troops to Iraq in an attempt to boost security in the region.

Petraeus claims the surge is working, but he is calling for politicians and Iraq sceptic Americans to be patient and give himself and the US military more time to improve the situation in Iraq.

“Though we both believe this effort can succeed, it will take time,” Petraeus said.

However Gen. David Petraeus has been under fire in Washington as well as Baghdad, as both the Republicans and Democrats called for a faster withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

If troops are withdrawn too fast, do you think Iraq could descend into civil war?

If not how long to US troops need to stay in Iraq?
