Robotech Will Be Bought To The Big Screen By Tobey Maguire

The rights to bring the classic anime series Robotech to the big screen has been picked up by Warner Bros. Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire is producing the film and also has plans to star.

Robotech follows the story of giant robotic machines (mecha) who Earth developed due to the scientific advances which were discovered in an alien starship that crashed on a South Pacific island. The mecha then fight three successive extraterrestrial invasions and save the Earth.

The anime series was followed by a popular line of comics, novels, role-playing games, video games, toys and other products.

It seems now would be the perfect time for a movie like this, especially after the success of Michael Bay’s Transformers.
