Now this is something I am sure has been discussed a thousand times before, but for me it was just recently that my daughter kept asking for a Nintendo DS, but as we have two Sony PSP’s it seems stupid to go and buy a DS or is it.
I thought it would be interesting to get some gamers feedback about the Nintendo DS and finding out if it is worth owning one of them as well as the Sony PSP.
I brought all 3 main gaming consoles (Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3 and Xbox 360) for different reasons, but as I have never used a Nintendo DS I cannot comment on how good it is.
So people should I get a Nintendo DS or just keep with the Sony PSP as a portable gaming system?
If the majority of comments say to buy one then I will do, if not then I will not.

Dont touch the PSP. Sony only offer a one year guarentee and they actually dont want to know about and faults in the machinery after that other than charging you £60+ for a refurbished machine. The web is full of issues with butttons going wrong within and only just out of the guarentee, therefore given the original cost it offers poor value for money over time. In our case even a letter direct to the managing Director in the UK regarding a unit only just out of warrenty regarding faulty buttons did not produce any worthwhile result for us. As a parent I am so bitterly disappointed with the PSP as a present for my teenage son, and my experience with Sony to such an extent I will never buy another laptop, phone or entertainment device with their name on it. By contrast the DS goes on and on without a fault, it IS THE BEST VALUE ELECTRONIC DEVICE for children. I also remember excellent service and replacement of units by Nintendo withithout question on Game Boy units when things went wrong in the past, even out of warrenty which is why I recommend Nintendo. No wonder PSP is doing so badly at the moment and DS is selling well.
Go with a DS. There’s a LOT of good offerings on both systems, but I think there are a lot more DS offerings that are more mass appeal than the PSP. With that, I mean there are more games that anybody can just jump into and play. There are also a lot of smaller quirky games that don’t _sound_ fun, but when you start playing it, it’s actually one of the most fun games to play. It’s a very easy system to just pick up, and it’s price tag is quite low. It’s a very good deal. Some of the best games out there right now are DS games.
Ahh….DS wins hands down. Only people concerned with how good graphics are go for PSP or even PS3. Both overpriced technological failures that have no substance, just specs on paper to impress someone easily lured in by big numbers. It’s unfortunate Sony cannot reproduce PS2 or PS1, but I guess that’s business arrogance.
As the majority of comments said to buy a Nintendo DS, I brought one for my daughter yesterday just as I said I would.
only kids use a ds its not enough for hardcore gamers psp will always beat the ds
Good choice going with the DS. Its nothing against the PSP. It’s just that you can count the number of good games on the psp with one hand..
ds?.. what the hell i that…is a joke.. my favorite is THE PSP.. the ds was made to the babys, and grandparents .. i love the psp.. i grow up played the sony ps, ps2 now im goin to die playing the el ps3…
i love the PSP waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the DS bacause most of my favorite games are on the PSP
I’m an middle-aged adult and want no part of any games that have *cartoon* characters (Mario, Sonic, any anime, bobblehead-looking characters, etc.). That being the case, would anyone even begin to recommend a DS for me? (and no, my 7 and 9 year olds will NOT be playing this machine, just me!). I enjoy PC games (HalfLife2, Dungeon Siege, sports sims, etc.)…but want to be able to play more portably. Surely, the PSP is the better choice for me…right??
psp vs Ds. to me , the psp is really something and it beats the ds by a few miles. movie, gaming, music for the psp. can tht be done wif the Ds? the psp screen is fantastic, the graphics are as good if not better thn a ps2. watchign mvoies are a joy. it doesnt lag at all. and music is a breeze. so easy to use. ive never tried the Ds but i dare say without trying tht the psp is great fun and value for money.
