Nepal Airlines sacrifices two goats to appease Akash Bhairab the Hindu sky god
Officials from Nepal Airlines the state run airline had to sacrifice two goats in order to appease the Hindu sky god Akash Bhairab, as the airline had technical problems with one of their plans. Nepal Airlines has had this problem with two of their Boeing aircraft in recent weeks and as a result had to cancel some services.

The two goats were taken to the Boeing 757 aircraft which was having technical problems and then sacrificed in front of it; this was in accordance with Hindu traditions. The plan has since been fixed and flights have been resumed, although airline officials did not give exact details as to what the problem was.

Animal sacrifices are common in Nepal as part of a Hindu ceremony.
