Xbox Live will close
We have been informed that Microsoft’s Xbox live service is to close Monday for around 4 hours (apparently from 9am to 1pm).

Many users of its Xbox Live service have been getting messages from the Console manufacturer, although this is just a little bit of downtime I wonder what the Xbox 360 users will feel about this.

If people are at work or not around then I guess they will not care, but for the gamers that want to go to Xbox live in the downtime, they will be very unhappy.

Microsoft has apparently refused to comment on what the maintenance is for, it could be an annual autumn update but who really knows but Microsoft.

One other rumor that I found very interesting is that there could be a new feature as a parental timer that allows adults pre-program a set amount of time their children can play on the Xbox 360.

Well im not at work and i think i can handle 4 hours and even probably more without xbox live! Doesnt really matter to me personally, i can go and do something else equally as important as xbox live.

And i dont think many people will be bothered by the downtime at the end of it, the people reading your blog will just see it as a time where microsoft are putting in an update, im assuming it has to be a security update, since they have to shut down live to implement that.

On the otherhand, the people who dont know about the update and want to get on Live will probably be really annoyed, but they shouid keep up with updates and news. But in the end they cant do nothing about it, and im sure most will understand the point of updateing a system, especially if it has to be turned off for 4 hours to do so.
    :D

Not the first time this has happened. Probably upgrading software etc… As long as the time is used well to improve the service, 4hrs isn’t a major issue.
There hasn’t been any major outcrys in the past when this has happened.

    You’re a moron.

Halo 3 launches on Sept. 25 and this is a service upgrade so that Live doesn’t crash when everyone goes on line at the same time to play it.

It’s also FOUR HOURS and if you can’t last without Live for that long, you ought to get a life.

It’s only 4 hours, i’m sure even the most hardcore of gamers can cope with playing offline for this short time.

With upgrades comes downtime. As long as it’s used to bolster the service which is a must considering you have to pay for it then that’s fine. I wonder if they’ll be doing anything to prevent modders from going online?

It’s only four hours. Go out for a walk. Read a book. Get some exercise. How do you expect MS to improve the service they give without a little downtime. They probably calculated that this timeslot was the least used by gamers.

Has anyone mentioned that you write like a 12 year old? ‘knowone’? Spellcheck?

I would rather have the service down for a while on Monday morning to do upgrades than have it crap out on Sept 25th when Halo 3 launches.

While it’s down, I’m at work, but anyone who is at home should plan to do something else. You can play offline, play on the PC, or ….. wait for it…… get up and go outside!

It sucks when the system is down, but, it’s for the greater good.

you need to get a life if you cant handle 4 hrs without play a f*****g you need to jump off a bridge, or go do something beneficial.

  9. Derek says:

It’s no biggie to me. Microsoft has my 360 in a repair center anyway.

But for those of you freaking out about XBL going down for 4 hours, seriously, not a big deal. There is much more to life then video games.

Seeing as live is the only thing they have nailed this time around..best they keep it in tip top shape for all the Halo 3 multiplayer that gonna be a happening in a few weeks. I dont mind at all as I work mondays :)
