Cloverfield/1-18-08 What Will JJ Abrams Movie Be Called?

Ever since JJ Abrams’ monster movie has been announced, a huge question mark has lurked above the name for the film. The code name, Cloverfield, was put forward and everyone accepted it. Then, when the film went into production, on set a whole load of different names were used including Slusho!, Cheese and Chocolate Outrage.

It’s now come to light that even the production crew didn’t know what to call the film. The crew got given gifts (as seen in the picture) with all the different titles printed on them, but crossed out.

The trailer and website have gone with 1-18-08, and many people have warmed to the idea of this title. At Comic Con, four posters were released with the titles “Terrifying”, “Monstrous”, and “Furious” which caused further confusion. Then, there was the trademark filed by JJ’s attorney ‘Overnight’, which was one of the favourite titles.

In a new twist to the tale, it has been reported that the film will be titled “WRECK”. If so, how the hell did they get that name from all the previous titles and surely it’s a bit late in the day to suddenly switch the branding from 1-18-08 to WRECK?

What was your favourite title for the film? Do you think the production company should just name the film and get it over and done with? Let us know what you think.
