Pacific Beach Riot: focus on alcohol

Many of us know with most of the trouble in heavy nightlife areas it always seems to come down to alcohol and with the hot weather at the beach, it seems that the Pacific Beach Riot was also caused by alcohol.
This is the focus of Councilmember Kevin Faulconer who said it undoubtedly played a role in the confrontation between police officers and a rowdy crowd on Monday.
To stop this happening on the beaches of San Diego again Faulconer has asked for some significant changes to be made quickly.
Although the Pacific Beach community has been divided over a ban on alcohol for a long time I personally feel it would be a good idea.

What do you think? Would banning alcohol on the beach solve the problem?

This is an area of the beach that the local kids hang out at. cops are often heavy handed. i am not suprised this blew up on reed and pb drive
This is an area in which dumb tourists from Arizona ruined it for the locals. Cops needed to be heavier handed to prevent this in the first place but because of short staffing, the cops were powerless. That is what causes riots. If the cops were heavy handed, a riot would have never taken place. If the people would have respected the local laws, this would have never taken place.
