Golfer Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the BMW Golf Championship even though he was able to hold off Tiger Woods in the recent Deutsche Bank Championship and to then beat him. The news that Mickelson withdraws from the BMW Championship is that he believes that he has been let down by Tim Finchem, the PGA Tour commissioner.
Mickelson has been asking Finchem for a more balanced schedule, and he said that he would even walk away from this week’s BMW Championship golf event. Many people thought that Phil would not go through with it, but he did as he said that he needed the time off. Mickelson said that “This decision was not an easy one to make,” he then went on to say “And in no way is meant as disrespectful to the Tour or ’sending a message’ to anyone.
It seems that the PGA Tour is getting tougher for the golfers as Mickelson is fighting his way back from a wrist injury and playing four games in just one month is not helping him get fit. Even Tiger Woods missed the first of the four playoffs.
