I know that many people would say that they would go for the obvious choice the Mercedes, but do not think for one moment that the Lexus is a lesser car.
So let us take a look at the pricing and some other facts about both of these vehicles:
Base retail for the 2007 Lexus LS 460 is $61,000 with the 2007 Mercedes Benz S-Class starting at $85,750
The base Invoice Price is $53,070 compared to $79,748
5-Year Total Cost of Ownership $60,585 compared to $84,518
So we know that the Mercedes is more expensive, like we did not already know that.

Engine facts, LS 460 first and the S-Class S550 second:
The standard engine is 4.6L 380 hp V8 against the 5.5L 382 hp V8
8-Speed Automatic Overdrive compared to the 7-Speed Automatic Overdrive transmission
The LS 460 has 380hp while the S-Class S550 has 382 horsepower.
