Way back in 1966 the MDA Labor Day Telethon was only on one TV station but in 2007 this Telethon will be on 190 television stations and will be seen by over 40 million viewers. Last year the 21-hour show raised $61 million for the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association). Jerry Lewis has always been known as the number one volunteer when it comes to his work commitment for the MDA and has been the national chairman for five decades now.
