US Stock Market Futures Open Higher Ahead Of Bernanke Fed Speech
By: Daniel Chubb | August 31, 2007 | Leave a CommentThe US stock market index futures are suggesting a better day on the markets today, as all eyes are on Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and US President George Bush.
Bernanke and Bush are expected to make speeches today about the subprime situation in the USA.
It seems investors are speculating that Bernanke or Bush will offer some help the to the market. Some feel that the Fed are going to lower the main interest rate, after they lowered the fed discount rate.
Lower interest rates have big consequences as Sam Kirtley of The Gold Prices Newsletter from Gold-Prices.biz explains: “If the Fed lower interest rates, it will send the US dollar plunging down. The US dollar is already critically close to its key support at 80 on the USD Index. If it breaks 80, it could go into total free-fall, which will send gold prices through the roof.”
Do you think Bernanke and Bush will hint at lower interest rates today?
Will lower interest rate be enough to save the subprime housing and home loan market?
