Sania Mirza advances to second round of the US Open tennis tournament

Despite some bad mistakes and vital errors, Sania Mirza overcame a second-set lapse to defeat Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-2 6-7 6-1. Mirza committed 32 unforced errors in total, but over half of them were made in the second set, when the struggled.The 20 year old Indian tennis ace said “Today, I just felt a bit up and down the whole match. It wasn’t the best match I’ve played by far. What is important is that you come out winning.” And winning is what she did. She needed only 26 minutes to win the final set, despite suffering from a wrist injury. In the second round of the US Open she will face American player Laura Granville.
