Francisco Elson, center for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, has recently left Holland’s national basketball team after being diagnosed with a fractured left eye socket.Elton sustained an injury during the Netherland’s victory over Belarus last week, where he recieved an elbow to the face. He then played the next basketball game against Slovakia, an 80-75 defeat but medical staff became concerned when he complained of suffering from double vision. On Tuesday he visited an eye specialist, who diagnosed the fractured orbital socket after several scans. After consultation with the national team coaches, Elson was sent home to be treated by the Spurs‘ doctors. Dutch national basketball team doctor Erik Jager said “Six weeks is average for an injury like this. Francisco is very sad about this.” The 31 year old player is keen to get treatment underway and get back on the court.
Do you think this injury will affect the Dutch team’s performance?
