Rappers Duke It Out: 50 Cent vs Kanye West

Their head-to-head release date has spawned more than its share of hype. 50 Cent has offered to debate Kanye West, and he has vowed to retire if his rival outsells him.

Apparently Gambling Web sites are taking bets on which artist will win the sales battle and fans of each artist have launched My Space pages to support their champion.

50 Cent is known as a gangster rapper who rarely strays from the familiar territory of women and money
He’s usually found in the company of Eminem and Dr. Dre as well as a posse of G-Unit soldiers who look marginally menacing.

Kanye West is an eccentric envelope-pusher from an upper-middle-class background. He rants about President George W. Bush on live television, wears pink polo shirts and rolls with John Legend, Common and Jay-Z.

In Album sales 50 Cent reigns supreme because his debut, “Get Rich or Die Tryin,” went 10 times platinum worldwide which is a feat that both of Kayne albums combined couldn’t match but saying that Kayne has a leg up in the awards and critical-acclaim arena, including the 2006 Grammy for Best Rap Album with “Late Registration,” which edged out 50 Cent’s “The Massacre.”

So to sum this all up and despite Kayne’s surging popularity, 50 Cent should win the overall sales race because of his international clout “The Massacre” sold 2 million albums in India alone.

Kayne West will likely dominate the “Best of 2007” lists when all is said and done.
