Laws Still Unchanged after Toy Recalls

The consumer watchdog, The European Consumers’ Association BEUC, has said it wants to check on toys before they get onto store shelves.

This is following the massive toy recall of Mattel toys including over 100,000 toys that were sold in shops in Ireland.

Mattel have not been doing too well recently, as they issue a 4.4 million toys recalled in November 2006, and then just recently a toy recall of 20 million toys.

The EU and national authority has said that it wants to check toys before they go on the shelves.

Do you think its the government’s responsibility to ensure that toys are safe?

Or is it the job of toy companies such as Mattel?
