An Owners View: Microsoft and Xbox 360 I am sick of them

I have owned the Xbox 360 since they first came out (a long time ago) and although I have never played it more than a couple of hours as I work a lot from home, many of my family members Xbox 360’s are dropping down like flies with the 3 red lights.
First lets make it clear that I do love the 360 and my games collection is over 40 games, but with the thought of it dieing one day when I decide to play it a lot more I decided to give Microsoft a phone call (remember facts are I am seeing problems with my friends and family 360’s).
After 40 mins on the phone where did I get?
In short they will only repair the 360 if I get the 3 red lights (even after telling them it sounds like a tank and gets so hot I cannot let my 4 year old son touch it), but guess what.
They will repair the 360 if I pay them some money (although it does not have the 3 red lights), the lady from Microsoft Xbox 360 support did say she is aware of the problems they were sold with and that’s why they can repair the problem of overheating.
So still on the phone trying to understand that they sold the Xbox 360 to me with an overheating problem, but saying its company policy to only repair after the 1 year warranty if it has the 3 red lights…I WAS SOLD A PRODUCT THAT GETS WAY TOO HOT.
To top this off I also own a Microsoft Racing Wheel which they have issued a recall on because of (guess what) overheating again…now this is funny.
They will recall the Racing Wheel for overheating even though the overheating problem has not happened to me yet, but they will not recall the Xbox 360 for overheating…this is mad.
It must all come down to money, but I feel someone should make Microsoft recall all Xbox 360’s as in my view they sold them with problems of overheating (that’s why it sounds like a tank).
I still love the 360 and the games I have, but think Microsoft should do the right thing.
I own a Nintendo Wii as well and think I am going to move to the Playstation 3 for most of my new game buys (only buying games on the 360 like Halo 3).

If the tray is sticking, they should fix the problem as long as it is under warranty. It is a defect with the product, just might not be the common factor.
@Sonicguy - I don’t think Microsoft can legally give you some one elses Xbox 360 if you send yours in for repairs. They either need to fix yours or give you a replacement product that is new. Although I am sure among the warranty verbage it most likely says that they can give you a repaired system other than yours though. Since I have never had a problem with mine, and mine seems to be just fine I hope that I don’t have to send mine in only to find out that I get someone elses Xbox 360.
LA,
Ohh no. They have them boxed up and ready to come back as refer-rub-ished…fo sho’!
It comes with a letter, and if you get a new 360 the letter says “To get you back up and playing we have provided you a New Replacemnt Unit…” –huhh huh, I said..Unit!! —
If you get someone elses that has already been jacked up, the letter says “To get you back up and playing we have replaced you’re Unit…” — unit… –
I sent back 4 now, and got 1 new one back. Hate say this though, the 3rd one I got back, was the new one..and actually I think it was the power surge when the power in my house went out and I was playing online that did that one in…it was running so good for months after I got it back…but hey, 3 red lights!
Sorry MS, but I can’t confirm that, just kinda started to freeze up some time after that I noticed, then ka’put!
Anyway. Hope to have mine back by Halo3!!!
Microsoft’s hardware is garbage. I liked them both, and didn’t even play the Gamecube or PS2, but that’s the bottom line. Microsoft’s consoles are unreliable.
