An Owners View: Microsoft and Xbox 360 I am sick of them

Xbox 360
I have owned the Xbox 360 since they first came out (a long time ago) and although I have never played it more than a couple of hours as I work a lot from home, many of my family members Xbox 360’s are dropping down like flies with the 3 red lights.

First lets make it clear that I do love the 360 and my games collection is over 40 games, but with the thought of it dieing one day when I decide to play it a lot more I decided to give Microsoft a phone call (remember facts are I am seeing problems with my friends and family 360’s).

After 40 mins on the phone where did I get?
In short they will only repair the 360 if I get the 3 red lights (even after telling them it sounds like a tank and gets so hot I cannot let my 4 year old son touch it), but guess what.

They will repair the 360 if I pay them some money (although it does not have the 3 red lights), the lady from Microsoft Xbox 360 support did say she is aware of the problems they were sold with and that’s why they can repair the problem of overheating.

So still on the phone trying to understand that they sold the Xbox 360 to me with an overheating problem, but saying its company policy to only repair after the 1 year warranty if it has the 3 red lights…I WAS SOLD A PRODUCT THAT GETS WAY TOO HOT.

To top this off I also own a Microsoft Racing Wheel which they have issued a recall on because of (guess what) overheating again…now this is funny.

They will recall the Racing Wheel for overheating even though the overheating problem has not happened to me yet, but they will not recall the Xbox 360 for overheating…this is mad.

It must all come down to money, but I feel someone should make Microsoft recall all Xbox 360’s as in my view they sold them with problems of overheating (that’s why it sounds like a tank).

I still love the 360 and the games I have, but think Microsoft should do the right thing.

I own a Nintendo Wii as well and think I am going to move to the Playstation 3 for most of my new game buys (only buying games on the 360 like Halo 3).

I bought a 360 before all Microsoft came out and mentione dthat there was a overheating problem, but heard that there were enough issues with them to get the extended warranty. Now Microsoft will cover the bill of fixing it, but I am hoping that mine will dive later this year so I can get a new one from best Buy with the HDMI port on it.

I enjoy my Xbox 360 because of the games, sure I could have got a PS3 but I don’t want a Blu-ray player. I buy a game system for the games that are on it, not what is to come some day. Good thing I have a Nintendo Wii as well… it provides reliability and is starting to come in its own with games like Brawl coming and the recent release of Corruption.

I watch TV Shows, Movies, and I have not turned my Xbox off for 2 weeks, and yes, it still works. I play at least an hour a night and my roomate watches as much of the pay per view stuff to buy another 360. I have been trying to burn the thing into the ground to no avail because Halo 3 is coming and I plan to play it like I have no job or family. Dying on me when I want it the most is not my idea of fun, so I am trying to burn it up. Also it never really gets hot enough so the idea of blocking the fan vents is going into effect tonight I will post the finding here soon.

PS, I enjoy my box more than any other person out therr and yes the software on the console is the killer app. It really is too bad so many people do not go LIVE! The benfits are so great even the if you only go silver. Also if you have an xbox go to xbox.com and check out the contests and game nights, you will be happy you did it will ensure you get more out of your purchase like me.

Stop complaining, you should’ve gotten an extended warrenty if you expect them to fix it for free after you’ve had it a year.
My own 360 has had to be sent in once (Three Red Lights) so luckily for me it was free. You were just unfortunate to get a faulty one, it happens, deal with it.

    Poor Microsoft.

Man I hope they pull back on that 3 year warranty cause of all the douches out there that are trying to break their 360 to get a new one.

Mine break on there own, with no help from me…and that blows…but its to bad that everyone else is taking advantage of the system and making things seem worse than they really are.

Come on already, if you’re such a dork that you try to break you xbox so you can send it back for the hopes of a new one…you should buy a ps3!

I think its safe to say a few people that have posted comments don’t understand how wide spread this is and how annoying it is when you have to send you 360 of to be fixed and wait for AAGGGEEESSS,(and in some cases pay for something that wasn’t their fault that it broke but MSs fault)

People who have said other people brake their 360s so that they can get a new one obviously do not know what is going on. I don’t want a new one I want my one, not brake it intentialy then phone MS and talk to some one you can’t understand and then send your xbox of for like a month or two. Just to get a new one that is exactly the same as the one I intentially broke.

And also you don’t get sent a new one back, you get sent some one elses one that was broken but has now been fixed, no matter if its looks terrible because of the last owner that had it took poor care of it, you get sent some strangers xbox back and not your own. Their not giving out free 360’s ¬.¬

Yes recall, how can a company sell, by their own admission, a faulty product? I’m sure this would’nt happen with any other product no matter how much it could cost the company.
At the last count my clan has had to send back at least 35 360’s which seems somewhat excessive. I’m now on my fifth 360, so cant help but feel like I’m just waiting for this to break too.
Someone please force a recall. Headset too if you can!!

I’m actually looking forward to my Xbox Breaking so I can get a cooler one. But the problem is that mine is not so bad. I don’t think it’s breaking anytime soon. Does any know if they will replace a Xbox if the Disk tray sticks. Mine sticks when it’s upright and no game is in the machine.
