Venus And Serena Williams Win For Althea Gibson

Serena and Venus Williams both done Althea Gibson proud and won, dedicating their victories to the late Althea.
Seeded No.8, Serena Williams had a very hard time, she struggled past the left handed German 19-year-old Angelique Kerber, who showed great defence before succumbing, the result was 6-3, 7-5. Many say the reason Serena had a hard time was because it was the first time she had played since her thumb injury at Wimbledon.
After a pre-match cermony Venus had 20 African-American pioneers, Venus Williams was kissisng, hugging and greeting all of them on the way out to her match. Venus Williams had a much easier time against Kira Nagy the result was 6-2, 6-1.
