Mr. Slim Now The Richest Person In The World, Richer Than Microsoft’s Bill Gates

After years of seeing the Microsoft founder Bill Gates at the top spot on the rich list, the title of “the richest person in the world” has a new owner, Mr. Slim.

Mr. Slim is really called Carlos “Slim” Helú and he is a Mexican telecommunications tycoon that has now overtaken Bill Gates as the World’s Richest Man, according to Fortune Magazine.

Whilst Bill Gates simply made his fortune from the software company Microsoft, Mr. Slim has accumulated his wealth from a wide variety of business activities, such as cigarettes, insurance, hotels, mining and the fixed line and mobile phones business in Mexico.

So how much is Mr. Slim worth?

Well Bill Gates is worth a massive $58 billion, but Mr. Slim has now gone one better than that with an estimated fortune of $59 billion!
