Lucas Silveira of The Cliks: first transsexual signed to major music label

For those of you who do not know who Lucas Silveira is he is the Canadian singer and guitarist of the rock band The Cliks.
Lucas was born in Canada to a Portuguese-Canadian family where he lived from the age of four to the age of ten on Pico Island, part of the Azorean archipelago.

Lucas is the first openly transgender or transsexual person signed to a major music label.
Lucas is quickly becoming one of the most visible transgendered persons in the music industry.

I think it’s great and have heard an interview with him
on npr this morning. npr.org but i think his band the Cliks are signed to an indie - Tommy Boy for everywhere except Canada.
It’s great - but not the first. Wendy Carlos (Switched on Bach, etc.) had the 1st platinum classical album - what - back in the 60’s? Won a grammy - or was it an Oscar as the soundtrack of Clockwork Orange?
Canary Conn had a contract, Jayne County, others..
Also I think Venus Flytrap out of Bangkok - Sony/BMG signed them over a year ago I believe….
