When you look at fire trucks you know that they are purpose built vehicles but when it comes to police cars they are normally stock civilian vehicles, which then get modified to handle everyday police life. Well that is about to change as Carbon Motors introduce the Carbon E7, this is to be the first purpose police car.
This sedan will have all that is needed for law enforcement duties for today’s needs. Firstly we look at the engine, this is a 3.0 liter inline-6 twin-turbo diesel it is also bio-diesel capable. It has 300hp which all goes to the rear wheels; the Carbon E7 also has 6-speed automatic transmission. Carbon Motors have built the aluminum space frame chassis in-house, it is hoped that the Carbon E7 patrol car should have a lifespan of 400,000km.
The Carbon E7 will go from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h, so police are able to get to a call in the city fast as well as be able to keep up with highway chases. The car also has a range of gadgets that is needed for today’s policing such as an automatic license plate recognition system, 130hz to 350hz bass siren, it is capable of 360 degree exterior surveillance, and get this there is even an integrated forward looking infrared system or FLIR for short.
