Total Lunar Eclipse on Aug 28th: moon will turn bloody red
By: Daniel Chubb | August 26, 2007 | 4 Comments
This is apparently the first central lunar eclipse since 2000 and when the moon aligns with the Earth and the sun, the extraordinary event will start at 5:52 p.m. on Aug 28th.
The whole of North America should be able to witness some portion of the eclipse, but western observers are said to be getting the best look.
What happens during this type of eclipse is the full moon will take on a dark red color as it will be illuminated slightly by sunlight passing through the Earth’s atmosphere.
They call this a “Blood Moon eclipse”.
If you watch the Discovery Channel then you will be glad to hear that they are going to feature a live video stream of the Blood Moon lunar eclipse from their Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan and Southeast Asia sites from 5:30-8:30 p.m. August 28th Singapore and Hong Kong time.
