In Las Vegas the Mexican basketball team racked up a total of 100 points to defeat the Puerto Rican’s who only managed 89 in the four quarters. The top scorer was Victor Mariscal, who managed a total of 30 points. An impressive 22 of these were during the first half of gameplay. Mexico basketball coach Nolan Richardson put the win down to pure hard work and effort, “That was our 20th game since May 21. We went to El Salvador and played five games.” He seems to have an optimistic attitude and it appears he is looking forward to proving his worth in the rest of the basketball tournament too. “We’ve been in the hottest gyms and highest altitudes. When you have guys like that, that are that dedicated, you know you have a good team. But this is still the beginning. We still have several games to go.” Puerto Rico suffered further after the game at the hands of FIBA, as NBA Dallas Mavericks guard Jose Juan Barea recieved a 2-game suspension for cursing at the referee and foul play.
Any predictions for when Mexico play the seemingly unstoppable USA team?
